Why August Is the Best Time to Book Your Annual Stove Service
Why August Is the Best Time to Book Your Annual Stove Service
It might seem strange to think about your wood-burning or multi-fuel stove in the middle of summer, but August is actually one of the smartest times to get it serviced. With your stove sitting cold and unused, engineers have far more availability than they do once the weather turns, and any issues can be sorted out long before you actually need the heat.
The Calm Before the Autumn Rush
Every year, the same thing happens: the temperature drops, everyone reaches for their stove at once, and installers and sweeps get booked up for weeks. By arranging your service in August, you avoid that scramble entirely and go into autumn already knowing your stove is safe, clean and ready to light on the first cold evening.
What’s Involved in an Annual Service
A proper service covers more than just a quick look over. Our engineers check the door seals and rope for wear, inspect the glass and firebricks for damage, test the air controls and baffle plate, and make sure the flue and chimney are drawing correctly. Any worn parts can be identified and replaced now, rather than discovered halfway through a cold snap.
- Chimney and flue inspection, with a sweep arranged if needed
- Door seal, rope and glass condition check
- Baffle plate and firebrick inspection
- Air control and riddling grate check on multi-fuel models
- General safety check ahead of the heating season
Booking Early Means More Choice
Servicing in August also means that if a part does need replacing, there’s plenty of time to source it before you actually need the stove. Leave it until October or November and you may find yourself waiting on parts right when you want your stove lit the most.
